BACKGROUND

Ginko Çocuk is a publisher and was in the beginning of their journey when we met, and they were about to publish their first books. They were planning to publish only children books.

THE NEED

They needed a website as soon as possible. They wanted to showcase their books but requested from us to make the website available for e-commerce in the future. Unlike other publishers, Ginko Çocuk team value their authors, translators and illustrators, so they wanted to list all authors, translators and illustrators. They also requested websites for two sister publishers: Kor Kitap for literature and political books and Ginko Bilim for science books.

SOLUTION

We used WordPress and it's highly popular e-commerce plugin WooCommerce. We made educational videos for the team to use the control panel in a productive way. We used a publisher WordPress theme and customized it for their needs. Also integrated to our statistics software Abaküs which is a deployment of free and open source statistics software Matomo to the website to measure how many people use the website. We published the website in December 2018 and the maintenance is still done by Bağımsız Atölye.

TECHNICAL

We deployed the website to our a virtual server so we could fine tune PHP, MariaDB and nginx. We also used their latest versions for security and performance. SSL certificate is used for the privacy and security of both users and server. A child theme is used, so the original theme can easily be upgraded. The maintenance of the server is still being done by Bağımsız Atölye.
